Content: A7ie (Aseptie) is back with a new album filled with
electronics from hell. The band gained some recognition for its
electro-terror sound and the new stuff only confirms this particular
fascination which is described by the band itself as ‘sick music for
“Tabula Rasa” sounds merciless, brutal and dark! We’re visiting an
obscure world made of icy electro sequences mixed with pumping rhythms.
This is a world of no mercy, a sound universe colored by black and
desperate atmospheres symbolizing a kind of imaginary nihilistic
universe. The vocals sound like zombie-growls, which totally fit to the
obscure style this album deals with.
But “Tabula Rasa” also is an album filled with carrying melody lines and
songs, which have been achieved with some refined arrangements. The
power of the production remains a very characteristic trademark of A7ie,
but I get the impression that the work gained in maturity. “Tabula
Rasa” is an alluring piece of music with several great songs. I can’t
really say that there’s a kind of hit you can’t escape from, but most of
the songs have a very strong potential.
The album features 11 songs plus a hidden track, which is a cover
version of Wumpscut’s famous “Embryodead”. The original version has been
totally adapted to the deadly and dark sound universe of A7ie.
Conclusion: A7ie delivers a fully accomplished work, which
belongs to the darkest parts of ‘endzeit’ electronics. If you think that
you already have heard the darkest electro act ever, just try A7ie!
You’ll not regret this experience.
Best songs: “No”, “Malade”, “Mort”, “Rise”.
